TODAYS PHOTO : Pretty or deadly? Nice flowers you may think, but the rockface in the background is the cause of a long term road closure going west out of Ribeira Brava. Rock falls seem to be in the news a lot recently, not helped by some spells of intense rain.

What a grotty wet cold night, and today so far is much the same. Probably the coldest night I can ever remember here. Still looking out I can see plenty of blue sky, so it looks like things might improve shortly.

That was a fair size downpour here last night, a tropical storm almost, in more ways than one. Short in duration, but with half the sahara desert left on my balcony. The rain the previous Saturday during the carnival parade seemed insignificant in comparison.
