A large-scale fire broke out overnight in a brushland area in Garachico, Câmara de Lobos, mobilizing significant firefighting resources. The alarm was raised at 11:30 PM regarding the Estrada do Pomar Novo area in Furneiras.
The blaze, which started in an area of vegetation, required a prolonged response from the Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Fire Department, and aerial assets were also deployed to fight the fire.
As of 9:00 AM this morning, 55 personnel remained on the ground, supported by 17 vehicles, monitoring the situation and carrying out mop-up operations. The fire is currently under control and in the mop-up phase, with teams focused on extinguishing any remaining hot spots and preventing flare-ups.
So far, there have been no reports of casualties or damage to homes resulting from this incident. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
