A two-year-old child was seriously injured following an accident involving a motorcycle and two passenger vehicles late this morning—around 12:00 PM—in the Viveiros tunnel in Funchal.
The incident prompted a response from the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters, who treated the child at the scene and arranged for their transport to a hospital.
The EMIR (Regional Emergency Medical Team) was also dispatched to the scene and provided medical assistance to the motorcyclist, who—according to information obtained by JM—is in serious condition. He was transported to the hospital by a Portuguese Red Cross ambulance.
The circumstances surrounding the accident and whether there were other victims remain unknown.
