A large fire recently broke out near the Meia Serra Solid Waste Treatment Plant in Santa Cruz.
Three fire brigades are on site – Santa Cruz Firefighters, Madeira Volunteer Firefighters, and Funchal Firefighters – with a total of eight vehicles.
According to information available, there are no reports of injuries.
A source from Águas e Resíduos da Madeira (ARM) reports that the fire started at a landfill, far from any sensitive infrastructure.
