Cancellations and diversions have been piling up since yesterday, Monday, when 28 flights were cancelled – 15 arrivals and 13 departures – and several connections suffered significant delays.
ANA has warned travelers to check the status of their flight before heading to the airport, given the possibility of frequent disruptions.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) maintains meteorological warnings that affect air operations in the Region. Today, the south coast, Porto Santo and the mountainous regions of Madeira are under a yellow warning due to strong winds, with gusts that can reach 110km/h. The forecast of heavy rain also led to warnings being issued for these regions.
Furthermore, the sea swell continues to prompt an orange warning for the north and south coasts of the island, and also for Porto Santo, a situation that persists at least until 6 pm and that has impacted other sectors since yesterday, such as maritime connections.
