  1. Nazaré Chapel, used for drugs, is shameful and disgusting. However, what can we expect from a government that encourages its citizens to use drugs for personal use?

    • Jennifer is your part of the woods any better ? Before slandering Madeira and implying that all the population is dealing or using drugs and are criminals stop disrespecting and offending them . People can make comments and expressing their views without needing insulting and disrespecting and above all not over generalizing no need . And before making more wild comments go read the local newspapers http://www.jm-madeira.pt , http://www.dnoticias.pt and https://funchalnoticias.net/ that you can translate to English and Madeira TV channel 161 . This way you can be better informed about what is happening in Madeira and what the local government and other services and associations are doing in terms of programs to treat the drug users and help them and also programs to inform the local population .

    • I can only assume you have fell to the Governments encouragement to come up with a comment like that but humour me, I would love to know exactly why you think the Government encourages it’s citizens to use drugs,

    • That is quite an allegation, Jennifer. But, as opposed to what Ms Isabel Oliveira says, do not pay overly much attention to what the Diario de Noticias writes, as the independence of journalism in Madeira has been proven to be iffy at least. The Jornal da Madeira should be skipped altogether, as it is the mouthpiece of the regional government, poorly disguised as an independent newspaper. To get a better balanced view, it is OK to read what they have to say, but also read the stories of JPP’s leader Elvio Sousa on Facebook, because he infallibly points out the questionable dealings of the PSD-M’s corrupt government.

And this also can apply to you also and the same I could say about half the UK newspapers also they are iffy at least and many times cant be trusted or even credible .

        • I think you are being very generous in saying about 50% of UK national newspapers are biased, I’d say it was nearer 90% and it’s thanks to this year on year drip feeding of lies about how the EU caused every problem in the UK that 17.4m people were brainwashed into thinking that voting for Brexit would make their lives better!

      • Again Isabel you appear not to be able to understand that more than one place can have problems at the same time, and that people are allowed to have opinions about anything they choose. By sharing an opinion on Madeira does not mean that we also don’t have an opinion on our own countries. Apparently if we’re not natives, or from a perfect country we aren’t allowed to criticise anything here

I don’t have a problem with criticize if is done in the correct away with a constructive criticism and not like some people been doing that is very disrespectful and insulting no need the words can be written in a better way without going like been going no need . And many times neither are capable of explaining or even elaborate the comments and the allegations the do and neither provide any type of evidence . I did live in Uk over 20 years and I don’t go bashing over the place the country and neither I think that is correct or right to do that their is the difference between me and them and like you said no country is perfect .
