Showers are forecast to set in today

The North and South coasts of Madeira, as well as the mountainous regions, are under yellow warning due to rain, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
The warning is in effect between 9:00 pm this Friday, September 15th, and 6:00 am tomorrow, Saturday.
The same organisation predicts that this will be a Friday with periods of very cloudy skies, becoming very cloudy in the afternoon, with periods of rain also in the afternoon, turning to showers that can be heavy at times.
The wind will blow weak to moderate (10 to 30 km/h) from the north, turning west. As for the temperature, there will be a small rise, with it oscillating between a minimum of 21.ºC and a maximum of 27.ºC in Madeira. In Porto Santo, the temperature will vary between a minimum of 21.ºC and a maximum of 27.ºC.
As for the state of the sea, IPMA points to waves from the northwest of 1 to 1.5 metres on the North Coast. For the South Coast, waves of 1 metre are expected from the west quadrant. The temperature of the seawater will vary between a very pleasant 24 and 25ºC for those fancying a dip in the rain!
A new, vastly improved “search” facility has been introduced allowing readers to search (box in the sidebar above) on any word or phrase used in any of the posts over the last sixteen years. Previously the search facility only returned matches on headings rather than the entire content. It remains to be seen whether this will slow the blog down – fingers crossed! If it works it should move the blog even further ahead of the increasing number of imitators, providing a huge resource for visitors and residents.
