Funchal may reach 29ºC

Yellow warning due to hot weather until 6 pm this Thursday

The Portuguese Weather Institute, IPMA, forecasts for this Wednesday, August 2nd, in Madeira, periods of very cloudy skies and the possibility of light showers on the northern slopes and in the highlands of the island. 

The wind should blow light to moderate (10 to 30 km/h) from the northeast, sometimes blowing strongly (up to 40 km/h) in the highlands.  

Temperatures will vary between 22 and 29ºC in Funchal and 22 and 28ºC in Porto Santo. Today, the Madeira archipelago again presents a very high risk of exposure to UV radiation.

The Madeira Region is under a yellow warning due to hot weather until 6 pm this Thursday. The national meteorological service warns of the “persistence of high maximum temperature values” on the north and south coast of Madeira, as well as Porto Santo. 

As for the state of the sea, IPMA points to northeast waves with 1 to 1.5 metres on the north coast of the island. As for the south coast, waves will be below 1 metre.

The sea water temperature should remain between 23/24ºC. The current IPMA forecast for Funchal is below:
