Call for inquiry into corruption claims

The headlines in the Diario refer to the decrease in tax litigation in the Region. Figures from the Funchal Administrative and Tax Court point, last year, to a 26% reduction, compared to the previous year, in cases filed against the Tax Administration, totalling, in 2022, 106 cases. In most cases, outcomes were favourable to the Tax Authorities.
Fish revenues down
Also highlighted in today’s edition is the reduction in fish sold at auction in Madeira, which is much more expensive. Until November last year, 500 tonnes less fish were unloaded in the Region, compared to the same period last year.

The paper also reports that the PS (Socialist Party) wants a commission of inquiry into Sérgio Marques’ statements open to the media. They want to directly question Albuquerque about the accusations made by the now-former Social Democrat deputy elected to the Assembly of the Republic by the constituency of Madeira.
