425 athletes compete in 6th edition

The Diario reports that the Boa Ventura Trail returns today for its 6th edition, after two years of interregnum due to the covid-19 pandemic. The event, which is part of the regional trail circuit, has a total of 425 registered athletes from six different nationalities. 

The Boa Ventura Trail has with two events, namely the Naturenorte Long Trail (25 kilometres), for which 250 athletes are registered, and the Short Trail Municipality of São Vicente (10 kilometres) which will have 175 competitors.

The routes of the two events of the Boa Ventura Trail cross areas belonging to the parish of Boa Ventura, municipality of São Vicente. The start of the Long and Short Trail races takes place in the centre of the parish of Boa Ventura, namely on the Caminho da Beira da Achada, and take place at 9 and 9.15 am, respectively. 

After the interruption, we are resuming with practically the same format and with the same conditions as the last edition. Therefore, let’s hope that everything goes well, that all athletes manage to reach the goal and that everyone can be satisfied with the organization, carrying out our main objective, which is to stimulate and promote our parish.

As has been customary in previous editions of the competition, after the Boa Ventura Trail, at 12:30 pm, there will be a get-together at the local Casa do Povo, where participants will be able to taste traditional “sopa de trigo” (wheat soup).

The first three male and female places overall will receive a monetary prize worth 200, 150, and 100 euros for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, respectively, in the long race, and 100, 70, and 50 euros for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, respectively, for the short race.

The last edition of the Boa Ventura Trail took place in 2020 and had 538 participants. The winners were André Rodrigues (PROZIS) and Susana Rodríguez (CTR) in the 25 km race and Márcio Coelho (CDES) and Cátia Ficali (CDCPM) in the 10 km race.

The mayor of São Vicente, José António Garcês, welcomed the national projection of this 5th edition of the Trail da Boaventura, which taking place this Sunday in the north of the island of Madeira, which helps to promote the county, thus being an experience to repeat.

  1. We are in Funchal on holiday from England.
    On Sunday the 22nd we had intended to collect our friend from the airport using the aerobus.
    I see that this is the day of the Funchal marathon.
    We are unable to find out if the bus service will still run or if it operates on a different route.
    I imagine that many of your readers could be in the same position I wonder if you can help us?
