There is a new yellow warning for rain, according to a note issued by the Portuguese Weather Institute, IPMA, which expects that the period that this meteorological occurrence will be in force on the island of Madeira between 6 pm tomorrow, Tuesday, December 6, and midnight of Wednesday the 7th.

During this period tomorrow, according to IPMA, there will be periods of rain, sometimes heavy. The yellow warning, for now, is only for the south coast and mountainous regions of Madeira.

Weather today

JM reports online that the forecast for today is for periods of very cloudy skies with showers, sometimes heavy until early morning, gradually decreasing in intensity and frequency from morning onwards, with a chance of thunderstorms until early morning.

Specifically for Funchal today, IPMA expects heavy showers with the possibility of thunderstorms until early morning. The wind will be moderate to strong from the west, with gusts up to 75km/h. 

At sea, on the North Coast, the waves will be from the northwest with 3.5 to 4.5 metres, gradually decreasing to 1.5 to 2 metres. On the South Coast, they will be southwest with 4 to 5 metres, also decreasing to 1.5 to 2 metres. The sea temperature will range from 17 to 18º.

  1. I think they have made advances with improving the large outlets in Funchal, but what about the huge amounts of concrete that have been laid elsewhere as one development follows another west of Funchal.
