3 ships deliver 10,000 people in the port today

JM reports online that the three ships that are currently moored in the port of Funchal, “AIDAnova”, “Silver Dawn” and “Ventura”, between them, are moving passengers and crew numbering almost 10,000 people, according to the port authority, Portos da Madeira (APRAM)

“AIDAnova alone carries 4061 passengers and 1383 crew. The ship is on the Canary Island circuit, having arrived from Las Palmas and is scheduled to depart around midnight, bound for Tenerife”, indicates APRAM.

The ‘Silver Dawn comes from Lisbon, with 335 passengers and 409 crew. At around 6:00 pm, the transatlantic journey continues towards San Juan, positioning itself in the area for cruises around the Caribbean. This 13-night cruise, called ‘From Lisbon to Florida’, started on Saturday and ends on the 16th of this month.

The ‘Ventura’ was the last ship to arrive. Coming from Southampton, she travels with 2468 passengers and 1134 crew. It leaves at 8 pm, bound for Bridgetown”, reads the same note, which explains that “this cruise, called “35 nights in the Caribbean” began on December 1st in Southampton, followed by stops in Madeira, Bridgetown, Sta. Lucia, St. Georges, Curacao, Bonaire, Aruba, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Antigua, St. Kitts, British Virgin Islands, St. Maarten, Azores and Southampton”.

  1. Yes, you could see this while trying to walk round Funchal today. Difficult to get through the crowds of people. It’s getting more and more like the Costa Brava.

    who come to visit this beautiful island and actually have the audacity to spend money here,
    especially those wealthy passengers from Silver Dawn cruise ship. 😤
