JM reports that the contract for the second phase of the new hospital (“Central and University Hospital of Madeira”) regarding structures and outdoor spaces was signed yesterday morning by the Regional Secretariat for Equipment and Infrastructures.

The Regional Government of Madeira awarded this 2nd phase of the new hospital to the proposal presented by a group of four Madeiran companies ‘Tecnovia Madeira, Sociedade de Empreitadas, SA’, ‘Afavias – Engenharia e Construções, SA’, ‘Socicorreia – Engenharia, SA’, ‘ RIM – Engenharia e Construções, SA’, for the contractual price of €74,698,447.25 + VAT and execution period of 720 days, with completion scheduled for the last quarter of 2024.

The works foreseen in this 2nd phase include the execution of the reinforced concrete structure of the building and the placement of the masonry. Exterior repairs are also planned, namely in underground access and infrastructure. Tenders were invited in February of this year.

The start of the 2nd stage of work at the new hospital is scheduled for November, after the necessary validation by the Court of Auditors, and will continue the work that is currently underway, excavation and peripheral containment.
