Rain this afternoon in Funchal?

showers producing a rainbow

The weather forecast for today from the Portuguese Weather Institute, IPMA, is once again for a very cloudy sky, with periods of rain or showers. The wind is expected to blow light to moderate (10 to 25 km/h) from the north/northeast.

For the Funchal region, periods of cloudy skies with periods of rain or showers, more likely in the afternoon, are also expected. The wind will blow light (less than 15 km/h). The BBC forecast shows less chance of showers than IPMA.

The forecast below is not as bad as yesterday, so it is possible that Funchal may escape the showers that arrived yesterday – one of them very heavy. At least they seemed to clear the humidity of the previous few days, which has been unusually high for this time of year.

As for the state of the sea, on the north coast, the waves will be from the northwest with 1 to 1.5 metres and, on the south coast, they will be from the west/southwest with 1 metre.

The expected seawater temperature is 23 to 25ºC.
