Among the 314 inmates in the Funchal Prison, 82 are responsible for crimes related to drug trafficking. Figures revealed to JM by the General Directorate of Prison Services also indicate that among the entire prison community there are 37 foreigners and 11 women.

Blood reserves stabilised

JM reports that the blood reserve in the Region has stabilized again, after declining during the pandemic and, currently, “there are about 3,000 benevolent blood donors who guarantee about 6,000 donations per year”, announced the health department.

This year for the first time, the Regional Health Service donated blood to the continent, having been able to provide 125 units of blood to the Portuguese Blood Institute.
