JM reports on yesterday being a busy day in port under the headline: “This Saturday is a full house day at the port of Funchal, where several giants of the sea are docked”.

The ‘Azamara Quest’, opposite, is one of the cruise ships that yesterday afternoon added to the landscape of the Madeiran capital, which it arrived early in the morning, around 6:15 am, from Miami.

On board were 253 passengers and 351 crew members, saying goodbye to the Region last night at 10:00 pm, with Lisbon as the next stop on their itinerary.

The ‘Hanseatic Nature’ also has a departure scheduled for last night – she docked at the Funchal pier this Friday, coming from Santa Cruz de La Palma, 35 hours after arriving in Madeira. The next destination for its 33 passengers and 163 crew is Marbella, Spain.

This ship is undergoing a turnaround operation, involving 112 arrivals and 88 embarkations. Her farewell will only take place at 10:00 pm this evening, heading to Puerto Del Rosario, in Fuerteventura, with 90 passengers and 142 crew.

Today the ‘Costa Luminosa’ will arrive at around 9:00 am.

  1. Hmmmm, I wouldn’t have called the 3 ships in on Saturday “Giants of the sea”. They are quite small, which makes for a much more intimate cruise.
