    • Jan, do not bother with the app just do everything through the website madeirasafe. Have you already registered from a previous visit? If yes your old accounts may still be live, just try and log in using the credentials previously used.

Also, you must have separate email addresses and mobile phone numbers.

  3. I understand that Madeira has introduced the so called 2G system – which means that unvaccinated people are banned
    – from coming to Madeira
    – from any social activity.
    Is my understanding correct?

I will refrain from any comment about the new system because this blog does not like or allow departure from the official version of reality and is ony for a closed circle of mostly British people.

        • Thank you Bob, but this applies to “people who have had direct contact with positive cases”.
Nothing about inbound passengers or airport testing as an alternative to vax papers.

            • Thanks again Bob.

What about non-injected residents (NOT tourists) who return to Madeira?

Do they also have to keep getting indefinitely tested every 7 days?

            • But where does it say that ? These rules are new and it says you need one of four things and three of the things listed involve vaccinations or letters of recovery from covid and the fourth is being a child. Taking what it says at face value an un vaccinated person who hasn’t had covid in the last 180 days and is over 11 cannot fulfill the criteria.

Not saying there’s isn’t something missing from the text or that there might be other clarification later

              • Maybe they’ve phrased it ambiguously on purpose. The word “alternative” (in the Portuguese version) could be interpreted “as one of the listed options” OR as an “alternative” to testing. But I’m not a native PT speaker, so I could be wrong…
