Cruise ship cancels

‘Amera’ cancels after Covid cases onboard

Amera cruise ship, which has cancelled its visit to Madeira

The ship ‘Amera’, which was to join twelve other cruises to watch the fireworks tomorrow, cancelled its scheduled visit to Madeira for the New Year’s Eve festivities (you can’t really count them as “celebrations” in the current environment. The ship was in Funchal just a few days ago, but regular contributor Jaime spotted yesterday that it had cancelled the Portuguese (4 port) part of its itinerary.

According to Cruisify.de, there are several cases of COVID-19 on board, although the website was apparently contacted by operator Phoenix Reisen and asked to change their report?

Thus, instead of 13, there are now twelve cruise ships that will ‘decorate’ the bay of Funchal on this last day of the year and the beginning of the New Year. Cloud Spirti, Marelha Explorer, Borealis, Bolette, AIDAmar, Vasco da Gama, Amadea, AIDAnova, Mein Schiff3, Queen Elizabeth, Mein Schiff Herz and AIDA Sol are the ships planned for New Year’s Eve in Madeira.
