The Diario reports that Regional Secretary of Health and Civil Protection, Pedro Ramos has again said that he considered it “unacceptable” and “inadmissible” everything that happened since the first week of vaccination of children against COVID-19: “Parents must be aware that the vaccination of children is an act of protection at a time when their public health is at risk”, he stressed.

At a previous press conference on Boxing Day, he had announced that since vaccinations were released for children only 1190 had received them – only 8% of the children in the Region.

13 ships for the New Year “a success”

At the same time Ramos said that the record number of ships scheduled for the Port of Funchal on New Year’s Eve was a reason for “great happiness”, since “it is yet another example that the recovery of the Madeira economy is on its true course”.

“Thirteen ships in Madeira in 2021, after two years of pandemic, means that Madeira, in terms of the pandemic, performed well, so it is a healthy, safe and sustainable Region”

On December 31, 2019, there were also 13 cruise ships – the highest number to date.

Most of the liners that will be present operate for the German market: AIDAnova, AIDAmar, AIDAsol, Mein Schiff 3, Mein Shiff Herz, Vasco da Gama, Amadea, and Amera

With passengers mostly from the United Kingdom, the ships Queen Elizabeth, Borealis, Bolette, Marella Explorer, and Sea Cloud Spirit, will also be in Funchal at the end of the year.

Whilst talking about vaccinations for children Pedro Ramos also took the opportunity to remind people that the restrictions that have been in force since 18 November are maintained (link below). Since these restrictions came in around 7,000 people who had not availed themselves previously have been vaccinated for the first time.

  1. Mr Ramos looks like he should be more concerned with laying off the Natas and going for a swim more often

Cardio vascular disease takes no prisoners… The Portuguese live in a democratic republic
These headless palpitations should never forget what things are really built upon

“You got this lion, he’s the king of the jungle. Huge mane out to here. He’s laying down under a tree, in the middle of Africa, he’s so big, he’s so hot! He doesn’t wanna move

Now, the little lion cubs they start messin’ with him, bitin’ his tail, bitin’ his ears, he doesn’t do anything

The lioness, she starts messing with him, coming over making trouble, still nothing. Now the other animals, they notice this, and they start to move in. The jackals, hyenas, they’re barking at him, laughing at him. They nip his toes and eat the food that’s in his domain

They do this and they get closer and closer and bolder and bolder, till one day…that lion gets up and tears the shit outta everybody, runs like the wind, eats everything in his path, ’cause every once in a while, the lion has to show the jackals who he is.”
