Ports largest visitor departs – video

Tur TV have a very good 3-minute video of the Iona departing from the port of Funchal yesterday – below.
Beneath, they have another longer video of the Iona arriving at 5:30 yesterday morning – the initial shots giving a good impression of the size of the cruise ship with very nearly 5,500 passengers and crew on board. Both videos show the Europa, generally considered to be a reasonably sized cruise ship, dwarfed by P7O’s latest flagship.
The good news for the local economy is the business that the 10,000 tourists generate – according to JM they requested 191 vehicles of various descriptions for excursions.

Thought it was going to La Palma – surely its going the wrong way?
We were in Praça do Povo to watch her leave, seemingly 30mins later than advertised.
Phil, Iona went to Santa Cruz da Tenerife. Europa 2 is destined for La Palma and the very active volcano.
We’re just so pleased to see the cruise ships arriving again. They’re a part of Madeira we know and love.
