16 cases – all local transmission

The latest update link at the bottom of each post was leading to quite a lengthy report, so a fresh start is being made here. Yesterday, unusually, saw the announcement that all the new cases of COVID-19 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira were from by local transmission.

JM reports that 16 new cases of positive contagion in the Region were recorded in the previous 24 hours according to the daily bulletin issued on Saturday afternoon by the Institute of Health Administration IASAÚDE

There are 16 cases of local transmission. With these new cases, the Region moves to a total of 1,459.

With regard to cases classified as recovered, the number is 32, so that the accumulated total is now 11,106.

There are now 178 active cases, of which 37 are imported cases and 141 are of local transmission.

Regarding the isolation of active cases, it should be noted that five people are hospitalized at Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, four in Polyvalent Units and one in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to COVID-19, and 20 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit, with the rest remaining in their own accommodation.

In total, there are 67 situations that are currently under consideration by the health authorities, these being related to travellers identified at the airport, contacts with positive cases or other situations reported to the dedicated SRS24 line or coming from the various test posts in the RAM.

Regarding active surveillance of contacts of positive cases, 352 people are being monitored by the health authorities of the various municipalities of Madeira and Porto Santo.

The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Madeira remains at 75.

Update: Sept 5:

28 new cases of positive contagion were detected in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, between Saturday and Sunday, according to the usual daily bulletin, issued today by the Regional Health Department. These are eight imported cases, seven from the United Kingdom and one from Ireland, in addition to 20 cases of local transmission. There are 18 more recovered cases reported.

Update: Sept 6:

Today there are 15 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection reported in RAM. There are five imported cases (two from the United Kingdom, one from the Lisbon/Vale do Tejo region, one from the South region and one from France) and ten cases of local transmission. Another 21 recovered cases are reported.

Update: Sept 7:

Today there are 16 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection reported in the previous 24 hours in Madeira. These are 2 imported cases (1 from the UK and 1 from Macedonia) and 14 cases of local transmission. There is also an indication of another 23 recovered cases, and the Region currently has 175 active cases, of which 33 are imported and 142 are of local transmission.

Update: Sept 8:

Today sees 11 new cases of COVID-19m in Madeira. These are five imported cases (3 from the United Kingdom, 1 from the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region and 1 from the United States of America) and 6 cases of local transmission.  22 cases have been classified as recovered.

Update: Sept 9:

There are 32 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection reported in Madeira, in the last 24 hours. These are 5 imported cases (2 from the United Kingdom, 2 from the Lisbon/Vale do Tejo Region, and 1 from the South Region) and 27 cases of local transmission. Another 22 cases have been classified as recovered.

Update: Sept 10:

Today, Madeira registers 17 more positive cases of Covid-19. These are 6 imported cases (3 from the United Kingdom, 2 from the Netherlands and 1 from the Lisbon/Vale do Tejo region) and 11 cases of local transmission.  Today sees 22 recovered cases reported.

Update: Sept 11:

Today, there are 20 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection reported in Madeira. % are imported cases (2 from France, one from South Africa, one from the US and another from Venezuela). There are 19 more recovered cases to report.

The region has now seen a total of 11,498 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with currently 170 active cases, of which 36 are imported cases and 134 are of local transmission. Regarding the isolation of active cases, 3 people are hospitalized at Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital (3 in Polyvalent Units and 0 in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to COVID-19) and 42 people are in isolation in a dedicated hotel unit, with the rest remaining in their own accommodation.

Update: Sept 12:

Today sees 20 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection reported in Madeira. These are 11 imported cases (10 from the UK and 1 from the Southern Region) and 9 cases of local transmission. 12 cases have recovered.

Update: Sept 13:

There are 18 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection reported in the Region today. Four are imported (2 from the UK, 2 from S. Africa) with the remainder being through local transmission. There are another 20 recovered cases.

Update: Sept 14:

Madeira registered on Tuesday six more cases of infection by the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Regional Directorate of Health (DRS). These are three imported cases (two from the Netherlands and one from the UK) and three cases of local transmission. There are 22 more recovered cases to report. 

Update: Sept 15:

Twelve new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, being one case imported from the UK and 11 from local transmission. 15 cases are reported as recovered.

Update: Sept 16:

Madeira registered 7 new cases of COVID-19 this Thursday according to the latest update made by the Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection. These are 2 cases imported from the United Kingdom and 5 cases of local transmission. There are 22 more recovered cases to report.

Update: Sept 17:

Today saw a further 13 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection reported in the Region. These are eight imported cases (3 from the United Kingdom, 2 from Spain, 2 from the North Region and 1 from the Lisbon/Vale do Tejo region) and five cases of local transmission. There are 24 recovered cases, and Madeira currently has 131 active cases, of which 36 are imported and 95 are of local transmission.

Update: Sept 18:

The Regional Directorate of Health reported today 13 new cases of infection by SARS-CoV-2 in RAM, so that the Region now counts 11,587 confirmed cases. These are 13 cases of local transmission. There are 19 more recovered cases reported.

Update: Sept 19:

Today sees eight new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection reported in Madeira. These are four imported cases (three from the United Kingdom and one from Brazil) and four cases of local transmission. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing. There are 10 more recovered cases to report.
