Petition finally cleared for votes.
The long-awaited petition on the UK Government website has finally gone live in order to have Madeira reinstated to the UK “green list”. Please get your votes in as quickly as possible.
A simple message, so will leave it there, but if just a few of the 4,000 daily visitors to this website were to act then Madeira may have a chance of being “divorced” from the mainland and treated fairly in order that their critical tourism sector has a chance of recovering this year ……….. 10,000 signatures are required for the UK Government to consider the petition.
9:00 pm: 195 signatures and counting. Please encourage everybody you know to sign this.
10:00 pm: 244 signatures and rising …. slow, but hopefully more readers will hear about this tomorrow
Fri 8:00 am: Over 400 signatures.
Fri 11:00 am: past 600 and accelarating!
19:00 pm: 1,100 and counting so could get to the 10,000 mark if everybody spreads the word!
16:00 Sun: passed 1,500 this afternoon
09:00 Tues: passed 2,500 overnight
Wednesday: reached 3,000 late in the day but seems to have slowed. In any event this might be overtaked by a possible government decision to allow double-jabbed holidaymakers to avoid quarantine when returning from amber-listed countries.
A new tab has been added to the top of each page with a link to resources dealing with COVID-19 in Madeira – this covers the latest government regulations on travel to the island, how to get a PCR test, and many other links that will be useful to people wanting to travel to and from Madeira
