easyJet announced yesterday that it will operate six new routes, linking several European cities to Faro and Porto, and that it will reinforce the capacity of another six existing connections to and from various national airports, including Madeira.

“The cities of Oporto and Lisbon will now have an increase in their capacity for connections with Funchal, with an additional daily flight for each of them. In this way, the Porto-Funchal route will now see its capacity doubled to two flights a day and the Lisbon-Funchal route will move to a frequency of four daily flights on weekdays and Saturdays, and five daily flights on Sundays”.

In addition to these, some of the most sought after destinations to and from Faro now have their capacity increased by easyJet, such as flights to and from Paris Charlles de Gaulle, Lyon, Geneva and Amsterdam.

New routes from easyJet

Lille, Luxembourg, Munich, Toulouse and Zurich are the new destinations to which the company will fly from the Algarve region, these connections being available, between the months of July and October 2021, for purchase immediately.

“Routes connecting the French cities (Lille and Toulouse) and Zurich will be operated on three frequencies a week, while connections to Luxembourg and Munich will be carried out twice a week,” says easyJet.

In turn, a new connection between the cities of Porto and Palma de Mallorca, Spain, through two weekly frequencies (on Mondays and Wednesdays) is another novelty, thus making more than 10,000 seats available to passengers.

  1. Why no new direct link between Faro and Madeira which I’m sure would be popular and certainly quicker and cheaper than the current option of having to fly via Lisbon? I wonder if there are political obstacles to such a link since obviously TAP would loose the Faro Lisbon fares which are very expensive. If it were not for the resident subsidies on such flights the cost would be extremely. I would have thought the tourist authorities would want to promote such a link but maybe TAP are putting up obstacles?
