Port and marinas inspected
FN reports that Funchal yesterday received representatives of the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), which is the largest commercial association in the cruise industry in the world.
During the morning, these cruise line representatives were in the Port of Funchal, having been taken to a visit to the port facilities by the President of the Port Administration of RAM, Paula Cabaço. They were later received by the vice president of the Regional Government, Pedro Calado, in the Salão Nobre of the Regional Government building on Avenida Zarco.
The officials were making a visit to the Region to observe, on the ground, the investment made by the Regional Government, for the safe opening of Madeira’s ports and marinas. Pedro Calado was quoted in JM as saying that he hoped cruises would return later this summer. He said that one of the solutions under study is the creation of a regional circuit between the Canaries, Madeira and the Azores, implying that the restrictions of the ports and the Canaries may be in the process of being resolved.
