Regional President is 60 today

JM reports that the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, celebrates his 60th birthday today.

He has been at the head of the Madeiran Executive since 2015, and is the person most responsible for the Social Democrats in the Region. He is celebrating his second anniversary during the pandemic.

New seafront in Ribeira Brava

A few days ago Muarice sent in a link to a video of the proposed new seafront in Ribeira Brava. Worth a look – seems to be a very ambitious project.

A new tab has been added to the top of each page with a link to resources dealing with COVID-19 in Madeira – this covers the latest government regulations on travel to the island, how to get a PCR test, and many other links that will be useful to people wanting to travel to and from Madeira.

  1. A social democrat? As in PSD?
That party is in the EU parliament member of the christian-democrats fraction, and also member of an international organisation together with the Republican party of the US.
The name goes back to the toppling of the fachist government in 1974, when it was bon ton to have social in party names.
Never accepted as a member by the Socialist International.

  2. Having no idea of politics in Madeira, from neutral point of view, Mr Albuquerque is to be congratulated on reaching 60 and retaining a youthful look in what must be a strenuous and difficult job, particularly having to face up to the current pandemic. Happy Birthday!!
