AZ vaccinations only for over 60’s
The Regional Health Directorate has announced that vaccination against COVID-19 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira will implement the recommendations issued, today, by the Directorate-General for Health, Vaccination Task Force and National Medicines Authority (INFARMED) .
This means that the AstraZeneca vaccine will only be administered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira to people over 60 years of age. Whoever is below this age group will be inoculated with a drug from another manufacturer.
This change, according to a note issued by the Institute of Health Administration IASAÚDE the change in guidelines will have no impact on the covid-19 vaccination program scheduled for the next few days.
April 10: Miguel Albuquerque said this afternoon, during the visit to the Vaccination Center in Madeira Tecnopolo, that hospitality professionals should be the next priority groups to vaccinate, taking into account that the hotel units are preparing to open. He also assured that by the end of the summer, 70% of the population will be immune.
April 11: Until yesterday, 60,000 people had been vaccinated in Madeira. Of these, 7% have already received both doses. So far 1200 have refused the vaccine.
