The Institute of Health Administration IASAÚDE today reported just 33 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Madeira, with the region now counting 7570 confirmed cases. These are 33 cases of local transmission.

There are also 48 more recovered cases to report, with Madeira now accounting for 6,725 recovered cases.

On the downside, there has been another death today, with the region now accounting for a total of 66 deaths associated with the pandemic.

There are 779 active cases, of which 17 are imported cases and 762 are locally transmitted.

Regarding the isolation of active cases, 46 people are hospitalized at Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça (39 people in Multipurpose Units and 7 in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to COVID-19) and 13 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit , the rest remaining in their own accommodation.

Update March 8:

43 new cases of COVID -19 have been reported in Madeira in the last 24 hours, unusually this is more than the number of recovered patients – 30 cases – the first time that the total currently infected has risen.

Update March 9:

Madeira today registered another 58 new cases of COVID-19 infection, all of which are locally transmitted. The daily bulletin issued by the Regional Health Directorate also reported 86 recovered cases and one more death, a 71-year-old man with associated comorbidities who was hospitalized at Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça. This takes the number of deaths to 67, just the third in March.

Currently, in the Region, there are 763 active cases, of which 19 are imported cases and 744 are of local transmission.

Update March 10:

Today, 48 new cases of COVID-19 are reported in the Region, with only one imported, from the Lisbon/Tagus Valley region.

There is also a record of 63 recovered cases, and currently, there are 748 active cases in RAM, of which 20 are imported cases and 728 are locally transmitted.

Update March 11:

Today Madeira records 38 new cases of covid-19, all of which are locally transmitted. The report by the Regional Health Directorate also states that there are 88 more patients recovered.

Currently, there are 698 active cases in the Region, of which 18 are imported cases and 680 are locally transmitted.

Update March 12:

Madeira today registered more positive cases of COVID-19 than those classified as recovered. According to the report released by the Regional Health Directorate, there are 48 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection reported in the Region today. These are four imported cases (two from France and two from the Lisbon/Vale do Tejo region) and 44 cases of local transmission.

  1. Glad to hear this. I’ve had to change my holiday arrangements 3 times. It will be 2 years in September since I was on your beautiful island.
    Coming back then. Hooray!
