Ronaldo wins “Golden Foot” award

Madeiran adds another trophy to his collection.

Ronaldo receiving Golden Foot award

Various sources report that the most famous Madeiran has got his hands on yet another prestigious accolade – one of the very few his nemesis Lionel Messi hasn’t won yet. Cristiano Ronaldo has added to his incredible personal trophy collection by winning the Golden Foot 2020.

The Portuguese forward was proclaimed as the winner at the beginning of the month and received the award last night behind closed doors due to COVID-19 health protocols.

Presented by the Principality of Monaco since 2003, the trophy is awarded to players over the age of 28 who stand out for their team achievements – CR7 has guided Juventus to their ninth successive Serie A success in 2019/20. According to the rules the Golden Boot can only be assigned only once to a player in their lifetime.

In 2020, the 35-year-old Ronaldo continued his outstanding form, scoring 44 goals for Juventus and the Portuguese national team.

The Sun comments:

Ronaldo received the award on Sunday and looked chuffed to bits with his latest personal accolade. In keeping with tradition, a dapper-looking Ronaldo placed his feet in cement and left his signature in the concrete. Ronaldo’s winning of the Golden Foot comes as no surprise as he’s been in red-hot form this year.
