Roads collapse on the north coast

Ponta Delgada and Boaventura badly affected

road collapse on the north coast

JM reports that part of the road at the intersection between the access road to Lombada and the old road to Boaventura has collapsed after the torrential rain that fell on the morning of Christmas Day. The north coast was badly affected as reported here.

A number of more isolated areas on the north coast were cut off as reported here, and the old road that connects Ponta Delgada to São Vicente also partially collapsed, in a place known as the ‘Solomés’, between the Tanque site and Ribeira da Camisa, as shown in this Facebook video.
