Recycling improves in Funchal

and more, better, chestnuts this year

JM headlines today that, in the space of a decade, recycling in Funchal has increased by nearly five thousand tons. According to data provided by the Municipality, the selective collection exceeded 18,000 tons, a record for recent years.

This indicates, according to the local authority, Câmara Municipal do Funchal, communication office, that citizens are “more educated for what they should and can be recycling”. 

The same paper, scratching around for headlines, considers it noteworthy that the biological treatment carried out on chestnut trees is having the desired effect. This year, the production of chestnuts is higher and of better quality.
