President enjoys Porto Santo

2nd day of vacation went “extremely well”

President in Porto Santo

According to both local newspapers the President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa is thoroughly enjoying his mini-vacation in Porto Santo.

The President enjoyed a “calm” day on the Golden Island, despite expressing concern over the outbreak of some fires on the mainland, where there was a declaration of a state of alert in all districts of mainland Portugal. Thursday was one of the worst days so far this year in terms of fires, with some 1,700 firemen and women battling 15 wildfires, mostly in northern and central Portugal.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa arrived on foot at the restaurant Pé na Água for dinner where he reportedly enjoyed fresh fish and Douro wine.

He certainly comes across as a very approachable individual, with the patience to pose for endless “selfies”.
