The Institute of Health Administration IASAÚDE reported today that the Region did not register any new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. The good news is that there is another recovered patient, which reduces the number of active cases to 24. However, two situations have arisen that are being studied by the health authorities – 2 travellers identified in the screening operation at Madeira airport submitted to laboratory analysis on the spot.

The number of cases recovered in RAM has now reached a hundred. As for the 24 active cases, they consist of 21 imported cases identified by the surveillance activities implemented at Madeira Airport, and 3 cases of local transmission.

20 people are in isolation at a dedicated hotel unit, 1 at home, and 2 are hospitalized at the Multipurpose Inpatient Unit dedicated to COVID-19. One patient is now in the Intensive Care Unit.

To date, 18727 people are being followed by the health authorities of the various counties in the region, using the MadeiraSafeToDiscover app. 7959 of these people are under active surveillance.

Up to the end of August 8,, 54,445 samples were processed for PCR tests in the Clinical Pathology laboratory of SESARAM

In the operation to screen travellers at the ports and airports of Madeira and Porto Santo, a cumulative total of 25255 COVID-19 tests had beencarried out by 4:00pm today.
