Restricted travel this weekend

The long weekend will again see a travel ban between municipalities

Restricted travel this weekend 1JM report that journeys between municipalities will again be restricted during the long weekend ahead, between tomorrow, Friday, and Sunday, similarly to what happened in the Easter period.

“For this weekend, which is extended, the Government will enact a ban on travel between municipalities, just as it happened in the Easter period. The objective is to limit the circulation margin a lot ”, announced the Portuguese Prime Minister a week ago.

From midnight onwards, the Public Security Police will set up checkpoints at all accesses between the municipalities of Madeira, in an operation similar to that carried out at Easter, with the reinforcement of the Republican National Guard.

The national state of emergency ends on Saturday at midnight, but movement restrictions will be maintained for at least one more day, as a way of avoiding travel outside the municipalities of residence and gatherings, over a long weekend, with this Friday’s holiday.

As happened between the 9th and 13th of April, those who have to travel between municipalities for professional reasons will only be able to do so if they are carrying authorisation from their employer.

  1. BIG Government! Pointless, what is the difference between a 2 day, 3 day or 4 day weekend! People either take the social distance measures seriously, or ignore them completely. I know which camp I’m in!!
