Poster showing maskThe Diario reports that yesterday’s press conference to update the position with COVID-19 in the archipelago included an admission that the entire population of the Region has yet to receive the community masks that are being delivered by the Regional Government. The Regional Secretary for the Institute of Health Administration IASAÚDE, Pedro Ramos guaranteed that this process would be concluded “by the end of the first half of May”. “That is the date we have for the conclusion of this whole process, which is taking place at a good pace”, underlined Pedro Ramos, thanking the work of CTT (post office).

70,000 masks distributed so far

He also explained that priority was given to some municipalities, notably Porto Santo and Câmara de Lobos, and referred to “the case of Funchal that is about to be concluded, but still in progress”, he said. “But we are working with the speed that is required” in a process that covers “all 250,000 inhabitants” in the Region with the delivery of “two per household”. So far, “more than 70,000 have been delivered,” he added. The free masks were announced on April 9.
