Both local newspaper websites attacked

Diario also suffers a cyberattack this morning

Both local newspaper websites attacked 1JM have confirmed that their internet domain has been the victim of an uninterrupted computer attack since Friday morning but has recently recovered and gone back online. This morning it was joined for a lengthy period by its main competitor, the Diario, whose website also went offline, presumably for a similar reason.

JM report that the digital platform jm-madeira.pt faced a cyberattack that consists of communicating more than one million hits in a few seconds, a situation that has the sole purpose of disabling their computer system. The cyberattack did not take over any data from the company JM confirmed.

At this point, after identifying the problem, the technical team, which provides assistance to the JM, managed to reactivate the site, although some constraints remain. They were forced to momentarily block access to all IPs outside Portugal and we also lost automatic communication between the site and our Facebook page.

They are working to be able to return to normal soon, and the incident is being investigated by the CNCS-National Center for Cybersecurity.

Also today, the dnoticias.pt domain was the target of a similar attack, seriously damaging access to news information in Madeira.

In view of the communication problems between the website and facebook, FN request that their readers in the national space go to www.jm-madeira.pt to access the information with the JM brand and we promise to everyone who is abroad that we will solve the problem with the utmost urgency.
