One month since COVID-19 arrived on the island

The newspaper reports that, compared to other places and countries, this paradise is among the best in containing the disease, with just 53 infected. However, they point out, there are few tests done and cases in which patients are asymptomatic are ‘ignored’. They are also concerned about those responsible for nursing homes in Madeira who are struggling to comply with all safety recommendations related to the containment of COVID-19.

From today, pregnant women from 39 weeks of gestation will have a ‘COVID’ consultation at the hospital, which includes surveillance and screening test for the new coronavirus.

From Monday distance learning starts with the collaboration of RTP Madeira, which will broadcast for four hours a day – between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm – of content from 20 subjects, in 30-minute sessions aimed at students in secondary education in Madeira.

Yesterday, there were no new cases of COVID-19 infection in Madeira, but at the usual press conference, the Diario believes the Secretary of Health left some questions unanswered.
