Reduced competition in Madeira

Diario headline reporting that the Regional Government avoids tendersThe Diario leads today with the unsurprising news that the Regional Government of Madeira ‘avoids public tenders’, and the overwhelming majority of contracts made by the regional administration escape real competition.

The article explains that “direct agreement and prior consultation” totalled 67% of the total of the €808 million contracts awarded during the first term of the executive led by President Miguel Albuquerque.
