Divers undertake work in port …

… in the absence of the Porto Santo ferry

The quayside in the port of Funchal where the lobo marinho ferry docksFN report that divers have been putting protection on the ramp in the port in Funchal as work accelerates in anticipation of the return of the “Lobo Marinho”, more commonly referred to as the Porto Santo ferry

At a time when Lobo Marinho is undergoing an annual maintenance period – in January as usual, as reported here – the roll-on ramp in the port of Funchal is undergoing work to repair the wear and tear caused by the operation of the ferry that connects Madeira to the “Golden Isle”.

The ramp was already wearing out at the base and work is being carried out to make the ramp fully operational again. The Etermar barge Moby Dick, with the help of a crane and divers, are placing a block wall at the bottom of the ramp.
