Yellow warning continues

New Year’s Eve sees a high-temperature warning

Funchal south coastThe local press reports that the south coast of Madeira remains under yellow alert until 6:00 pm today, due to the high temperatures. According to the Portuguese Weather Institute, the last day of 2019 will be slightly cloudy in the region, being marked by some high clouds only in the afternoon.

For New Year’s Eve, when thousands will be watching the fireworks in Funchal, the weather is still predicted to be mild, with no rain forecast. Temperatures are only expected to drop, possibly sharply, from next weekend.

Sea conditions

North Coast: Northwest waves 1.5 to 2 metres, gradually passing to northeast waves.

South Coast: Southwest waves 1 metre, gradually passing south-eastern waves.

Sea Water Temperature: 19/20ºC
