‘Journeys on Botanical Gardens and Climate Change’ in Valencia

Botanical Gardens represented at climate change meeting 1The Diario reports that Madeiran’s Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation, through the Madeira Botanical Garden Engineer Rui Vieira, participated in the ‘Journeys on Botanical Gardens and Climate Change’ conference, which took place in Valencia on 12 and 13 December.

The members of the Iberomacaronese Association of Botanical Gardens (AIMJB), of which Madeira Botanical Garden Eng. Rui Vieira is a member, met with the aim of moving forward with the analysis of the contribution of the Botanical Gardens in strengthening the Climate Change Alliance of Botanical Gardens, promoted by the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria (Australia) and, above all, in mitigating and adapting climate change already affecting the Botanical Gardens.

The meeting consisted essentially of reflection and knowledge of the actions being taken or planned to address the consequences of climate change on the Botanical Gardens and on plant diversity in general.
