New Year’s Day will see a small army of municipal workers

Municipal workers clean-up Funchal streetsFunchal City Council sent a press release to newsrooms detailing that, on New Year’s Day 2020, the work of the clean-up after the New Year’s Eve festivities in Funchal will start at 7:00 am, with a total of 107 workers, including drivers, cleaners, housekeepers and service managers.

A total of 19 vehicles will be involved in the operation, including 4 self-sweeping vehicles, 5 flatbed vehicles, 5 minibuses and 5 heavy-duty pickups. The cleaning operation will begin with the collection of the waste deposited in the containers and wastebaskets, followed by the removal/sweeping of the waste from the entire central area of ​​Funchal City, the removal of the 195 support containers that will be positioned on the previous day for the disposal of the waste produced on this night of festivities and, finally, with the disinfection of some critical points.

It should be noted that the January 1, 2020 cleanings will be a priority in downtown Funchal, so the operation will continue the following day in other areas of festivities where necessary, as will be the case with some viewpoints.
