… for the 5th consecutive year
Just minutes ago Madeira was tonight once again voted as the ‘World’s Best Island Destination’ by the World Travel Awards, an accolade that has been awarded every year since 2015, making it the 5th consecutive year that it has received this accolade.
The verdict was announced at the ceremony of the 26th edition of the World Travel Awards, the ‘Oscars’ of tourism worldwide that were held tonight at the Royal Opera House Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman.
The international awards, created in 1993, aim to distinguish what is best in the tourism sector worldwide. They recognise the work developed in the area of the tourist industry in order to stimulate competitiveness and quality, with the selection of nominees being made by the general public and by more than 200,000 tourism professionals from 160 countries.
