Alírio Diaz Guitar Festival underway
The mayor of Funchal, Madalena Nunes, who oversees the area of Culture, was present yesterday afternoon at the opening session of the Alírio Diaz Guitar Festival, which took place in the Hall of the Municipal Assembly. She thanked the Raquel Lombardi Association, for bringing us this festival, the first Madeira Guitar Festival, on behalf of a great guitar icon, Alírio Diaz, and for helping us spread the culture and art without ever forgetting the social aspect ”.
The festival is organized by the Raquel Lombardi Cultural and Social Solidarity Association, with the financial support of the Funchal City Council. Madalena Nunes said that the City Council “is always available to support these initiatives, which promote social inclusion through the arts”.
The festival, part of the Erasmus + project, saw the first performance last night and will be followed by another on Saturday at 7:00 at the Hotel Riu Palace according to the Madeira Culture website. The event will bring international guitarists to the Region representing countries including Venezuela, Italy, Finland, Austria and Portugal.
