Madeira hosts marine pollution event 1The Journal reports that the 4th Encontro GelAvista 2019 Meeting, will be held with the collaboration of the Funchal Marine Biology Station, in Funchal City Hall, on November 23rd and 24th, a conference that aims to promote a discussion on plastic pollution in marine ecosystems.

On the first day, the most recent data from the citizen science program will be presented, which aims to fill the limited knowledge that exists in Portugal about gelatinous organisms.

This fourth edition will be chaired by Dr Peter Ross, vice president of research at Ocean Wise, Vancouver Aquarium, a researcher in the area of ​​pollution of marine ecosystems by plastics. On the 24th of November, in the morning, all interested parties are invited to take part in a promenade along Funchal’s waterfront promenade to Formosa beach.
