Two telescopes to be installed soon

Pico do Areeiro Optical ObservatoryThe President of the Regional Government of Madeira and the Portuguese Defence Minister signed today a protocol that provides for the installation of an Optical Observatory in Pico do Areeiro, integrated into the European program Space Surveillance and Tracking (EUSST) that is aimed at the monitoring and identification of space junk.

The project includes the installation of two telescopes at the Pico do Areeiro Optical Observatory and represents, informed João Gomes Cravinho, an annual investment of €1.5 million.
