Volta à Ilha da MadeiraThe organisation behind the Madeira Wine Rally have released information relating to the Volta à Ilha da Madeira Historic Rally which precedes the main Rali Vinho da Madeira that celebrates 60 years this year at the start of August. By promoting in 1959, on its 50th Anniversary, the “1st Tour of Madeira Island”, the Madeira Sports Club, placed Madeira on the map of International Motorsport. The Volta à Ilha da Madeira Historic Rally this year takes place on July 19, 20 and 21.

The press release emphasises that “since the famous and emblematic” Tour of the Island “, Madeira has always supported and lived the Automobile Sport, crossing generations and attracting the interest of official teams and renowned pilots, who associated their name with the list of participants and winners, of the Madeira Wine Rally. It is, therefore, a challenge and a pride for Madeira Sports Club to organize the “Tour of Madeira Island” – Historical Rally 2019, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the “1st Tour of Madeira” and its 60 Editions, which gives the title of the oldest automobile competition in Portugal, held annually and always organized by the same club.

This year, Rali Vinho Madeira commemorate its 60th edition. The organising club, Club Sports da Madeira, the oldest Sport Organisation in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, celebrates its 110th anniversary.

The main Rali Vinho Madeira will be held on August 1, 2 and 3. The rally action starts with SS1 – Avenida Arriaga – on Thursday August 1st, at 19:30 hours and the event finishes on Saturday with the podium arrival and subsequent prize-giving, at around 18:00 hours. The three-day event returns to the customary running schedule, from Thursday until Saturday. This allows for all, competitors as well as Madeirans and visitors alike, to live the moments and relish in all the well known and promoted festivities set for the Saturday night of August 3rd.
