Steve Jobs’ superyacht in port

Yacht built for former Apple boss in Funchal

Steve Jobs' superyacht in port 1Thanks to Jaime for letting me know that the super yacht “Venus” which was built for Steve Jobs is in town. Jobs never took delivery of the yacht, as he sadly died in 2011, with the vessel being unveiled a year later. Venus cost €100 million. Jaime guesses that this is a “ pit stop” whilst on it’s way from St Maarten to the Med – it’s still owned by his family, currently registered to his wife Laurene Powell Jobs. The APRAM website shows it leaving Funchal at 14.00.

Venus was impounded on 21 December 2012 at the Port of Amsterdam following a dispute over payment.  The designer, Philippe Starck, claimed that Jobs’ heirs owed him €3 million of his €9 million fee for the project. The yacht was only impounded for a few days until the dispute was resolved.

More photos of the Venus here after a refit in 2015. Several show a row of seven Macs sitting in the glass-enclosed bridge.

The Journal subsequently picked up on this story and reported that the yacht was heading for Palma de Mallorca
