Porto Santo ferry back with higher fares

Lobo Marinho expected back on Wednesday

Porto Santo Ferry, the Lobo Marinh0The ‘Lobo Marinho’ had fewer passengers last year and this year the trips will become more expensive. The Diario headline this Saturday, January 26, reports that the ferry had 1,352 fewer passengers in 2018 over the previous year, and that the demand from tourists was also lower.
The newspaper also confirms that ferry links between Madeira and Porto Santo are expected to resume next Wednesday, but at slightly higher rates. An adult round trip April-September last year was €58.10 (€47.50 low season). There are no fares for 2019 on the Porto Santo Line website and currently no timetables either.
The ferry service was suspended in early January to undergo annual maintenance. This time the withdrawal has led to protests on Porto Santo, with residents claiming they were being subjected to “economic isolation”.
