Funchal City Race tonight

Volta à Cidade do Funchal 2018

The streets of Funchal will tonight host about 4,500 participants in the 60th edition of the Funchal City Race, the oldest “São Silvestre Race” in Portugal. Like many others across Europe it is based upon the famous Saint Silvester Road Race, held in Brazil since 1925, which has spawned numerous other New Year’s Eve races.
The São Silvestre Race, held in Funchal since 1958, is considered the oldest race of Sao Silvestre road in Portugal and one of the oldest in Europe.
In the main event, according to the Diario, 3,879 athletes have enrolled, and will run just under 6km through the main streets and avenues of the city, starting from Avenida Sá Carneiro at 8.00pm. 1. 5.85 metres is probably about as far as I would get after a night in Vespers lol !!

The reverse use of comma and point in Portuguese always frustrates me when using a banking app !!

    Good luck to all competitors
