  1. Apologies to those that may have noticed that the site was down for a few minutes on occasions at the start of this week. Unfortunately madeiraislanddirect.com and the blog were the focus of a concerted attack by hackers. It is difficult to understand why someone should spend so much time and effort (not to mention significant expertise) focused specifically on trying to take down these particular pages. Security has been tightened up even further and this should not happen again – hopefully!!

  2. The mind boggles …… why should anyone wish to hack/destroy your site? Mindless individuals with nothing better to do ….. and probadly no real job to go to, intent on wrecking havoc just for fun – ha ha, indeed. SAD.

  3. Beautiful weather again – how lucky we are living here!

Does anyone make their own Bolo do Caco and, if so, do you have to use pureed sweet potato (yes, I know, it is traditional) but on some of the stalls, I haven’t seen any evidence of sweet potato?

    • I have made it often Debs, but just with flour and water (some use salt, I don’t). I have never seen sweet potato used on the ‘barracas’, and I doubt very much if the supermarkets versions use it either.
